What’s the Plan Stan is an initiative which aims to support teachers to develop their students’ knowledge, skills and attitudes to respond to and prepare for an emergency.

Besides this website, the What’s the Plan Stan resource includes:

  • a teachers’ guide, including unit plans and activities
  • a CD-Rom with activities for students and downloadable worksheets and unit plans for teachers (upgraded in 2007)
  • a poster outlining the What’s the Plan Stan resource, and promoting the materials available
  • an illustrated storybook containing five stories (added in 2007)
  • an audio CD of the stories in the storybook (added in 2007).

The CD-Rom was upgraded in 2007 by adding:

  • new photographs, videos and footage of recent and historic disasters
  • new footage of school earthquake drills and a simulated earthquake
  • a new video and a downloadable list on the survival items page
  • links to games and a video on the cool extras page
  • an updated map of historical disasters
  • downloadable versions of the quizzes in the teachers’ section.

Alternatively, you can download the complete teacher’s guide. (3.97 MB)

If you have a broadband connection, you can download the whole CD-Rom for PC here (182.0 MB). This ISO image file contains all the data from the What’s the Plan Stan CD-ROM, which can be downloaded and burned to a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc.  You will need a CD burner and CD burning software to do this. The exact steps required to burn an ISO image to CD will vary depending on your software.
